Skip Stone

A one-thumb stone-skipping game on a calm pond at sunset. Drag back, let go, and see how far one stone can skip. The aim shows where the first jump lands.

Open full screenControls: Drag back in the lower half of the screen and let go to throw. Pull length sets the power, pull direction sets the angle. Works with touch or mouse.

A run is 6 stones, with a pick of 1 of 3 cards after each of the first 5. You drag back in the lower half of the screen and let go, and the stone skips across the pond until it hits the water too steeply (“Plunk!”) or runs out of speed (“Tired”). Bounce number n scores n points, so one long chain pays far more than several short ones. A flat entry, 8–14° to the water, is a sweet bounce and adds +1.

While you drag, a dotted arc shows the first jump only, and the camera slides sideways to follow it. A ring there is green (sweet), amber (borderline) or red (will plunk), and the entry angle is printed in degrees. A pennant labelled “Wind” shows the wind. Pull back to almost nothing and let go to cancel the throw.

What’s in the box

  • One mode: 6 stones with a card pick between stones, no timer, no lives
  • Best score saved on the device
  • Every throw is deterministic: the same seed and the same aim always give the same throw
  • Touch or mouse, no timing
  • English and Korean, switchable on the title screen
  • Art is drawn and sound is synthesised in code: the whole game is one 118 KB file
  • Made for a portrait screen (540x960), so it plays best upright on a phone
